Today I read about the execution of Ronnie Lee Gardner who was convicted of double murder in 1985. He was finally executed by a firing squad this morning in Utah. This is the first time that I know of where a death by firing squad was used in the United States. Now Utah did banned this form of execution in 2004 but the state has allowed a few of the inmates that are on death row to select this method. After reading a couple of reports on this Ronnie Lee Gardner, this guy definitely deserved the death penalty in my opinion. (For more on Ronnie Lee Gardner, see link on the bottom of the post)
These reports that I read also brought up some memories of people I knew that were murdered. I had a friend is high school that was shot in the back multiple times by his father in law and another friend that was shot execution style (shot in the head) at a party. A part of me has always supported the term "eye for an eye" meaning that a punishment should match the crime. Now I know this can not be applied to every crime that is committed but when you hear about someone getting two years of jail time for killing someone makes you wonder what kind of system do we have where you can basically get a slap on the hand for a serious crime. I feel that we are to easy on people who commits these serious crimes so there is no fear when someone is thinking of killing someone else. I just wonder that if we had more cruel or more violent punishments maybe someone would think twice of committing murder. I know it really comes down to our judicial system which is a joke but that's a whole other subject.
So I guess this would bring up the argument of whether capital punishment should be used or not. I believe that it should be used only for certain crimes like murder or other severe crimes but I know there are many out there that are totally against it. What do you think?

I'm down with the eye for an eye. Especially if I were blind. But any who, I totally agree. When someone kills someone, they've taken away somebody's child, brother, friend etc. There is nothing our judicial system can do that will bring that person back or help heal the family.
You kill someone - You get killed.
The only circumstance in which there should be a different method of punishment is when someone is killed by manslaughter such as car accident or overall on accident. When a murder was intentional - the punishment should fit the crime.
I don't know if I really agree. The penal system is meant to rehabilitate not condemn the inmates. I do believe that if you kill another human being, they should suffer the same fate, but I also think there are some exceptions to the rule.
OMG what a noob. Your 1st sentence contradicts your second. LOL!!!!
